Fedora Core 2 in KDE - Problems with Video playback.

Hi.

I am using Fedora Core 2 with KDE. I installed Kaffeine through yum from the Livna and Freshrpms servers. I also repaired the MP3 support for KDE by updating kdemultimedia.

I dont know if this upgrade caused a problem, but sometimes all my video players stop playing the video. Kaffeine shows a blue screen and plays audio, while mplayer simply crashes. Restarting X solves the problem temporarily. Please help.

Try using xine: http://xinehq.de/ http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
Maybe that works..?
And why do you use FC2? FC3 is much better, and FC4 betas are being coded now. (Ergo FC4 is almost done)

I dont think its a Player specific problem. Its a problem with KDE or X. Please try to tell me if you encountered similar problems.

Another thing, while kaffeine is ON, mplayer cannot play a video. Is it like only one video plays at a time? Windows can have more than one mplayer playing different videos at the same time. Cant linux?

Fedora Core 2 is fine I guess. Core 3 is available, but when I upgraded, my K3b, kaffeine, wifi, and many others were broken. So I downgraded. Will surely get FC4.

And I am thinking about kubuntu 5.04. I heard its fast and light.
