Fedora and mp3 problems! IM a newbie

I am a newbie with linux, but im having a problem getting my mp3''s to play on xmms what do i do.

What problem? Are you getting any error messages?

Fedora doesn't play mp3s out of the box due to legal/patent issues. See the following link for a workaround. Pretty much you can set up yum (command line software installer/manager) to use some unofficial sites, then run "yum install xmms-mp3" as root.

a guy told me to copy these files and to this directory /usr/lib/xmms/input and it tells me that i dont have permission to do that is there a special way that i have to copy them as root to that directory, ireally want my mp3s working thnx

Why don't you try following slacky's advice and use yum to install xmms-mp3?? The link he included has a ton of things that you can do to make Fedora even cooler than it already is.
