Fedora 8 install hangs on Dell inspiron 8120 laptop

When running the installer in text or graphical mode the installer hangs at /sbin/loader

It never comes back or does anything. I am looking for a work around. It works fine with Fedora 7.

having the same problem on a dell latitude d400

edit: seems i fixed the problem by adding 'acpi=off' to the boot line by hitting <Tab> when you get the initial menu for what kind of install you want

Gateway M285-E Same Problem no fix

I am having the same problem on a Gateway M285-E tablet. After the test media screen it goes to a blue screen and just sits. I have tried hitting tab and adding the commands from previous post without any success. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

I got it working by adding linux acpi=off apm=off ide=nodma nofb

Thanks for the help. I had to take off the i8042.nomux command.

Oh thank you so much. I had all sorts of problems getting this to load. The full command originally posted works. You know, I remember when distros just installed.
