Fedora 5 is missing headers?????
I just used yum to upgrade from Fedora 4 to 5. I am a new user to Linux, and loving my new NixBox! When the update finished, it rebooted... now when I open a "window" regardless if its a file folder or web browser, it doesn't have a header ( a place to click and drag, minimize, or close the window ) I think I might be missing something from the download. I have found no information on my web searches and am at a dead end.
Any help would be greatly apprieciated ! NixBox Rocks ! |
Which gui or windowmanager you are using?
If KDE then the easiest to try but loses current KDE layout. First to test. Create a new user and logount then login to the new user. If Okay then you can logout. Hit Alt-Ctrl_F1 Login as your normal user account. Run the following commands. mv .kde .kde_backup mv .config .config_backup mv .local .local_backup Logout Hit Alt_Ctrl_F7 Login as your normal user. For Gnome I assume it be similair Test new user account Run this command instead mv .gnome .gnome_backup Also similiar to others like fluxbox, icewm, blackbox, and many others. Brian1 |
Metadata ?
When i first boot up it says metadate window manager. Is that the same thing as KDU? Should i change my window manager?
Thanks again |
Never heard or seen that before. No idea. This might help. Is the taskbar at the top or at the bottom? From the main toolbar icon is there a program called Control Center? If so open it and see what the first page says. If this is KDE. But my guess it is Gnome.

I think its Gnome
I don't see a Control Center but i found an icon that says Gnome help. I also tried to install a different window manager, fluxbox and when i open the rpm it gives me an error message. I am at a loss ...
