Hello,
OK, I got Fedora 11 installed and everything, but very worryingly, when a
user is on the Desktop, sometimes the hard drive light is staying on for a
long time- can anyone tell me why this is happening? I would like to stop
it, I'm worried about my hard drive's life being shortened by intensive
usage. Does it have anything to do with SELinux?

Thanks for any help.
Could be that Beagle is set up, and the user's files are getting indexed. Check for the beagle daemon, and stop it if it's running, and see if that helps. As far as the drive's life getting shortened, drives are fairly robust these days. Unless you're on ancient hardware, you shouldn't have to worry alot about it, unless it's just getting hammered 24/7
