Fedora 10 won't run X programs: :Failed to create XIM input context

pdated Fedora 10 app no longer runs :Failed to create XIM input context
I ran "yum update" and updated my new installation.

Afterwards: my main application stopped running. It iis an xwindow app. I am trying to run it from a terminal on the gnome desktop.

Does anyone have any ideas?
How can I roll back my updates and which packages should I try to remove??

I have seen references to possibly changing XMODIFIERS to fix this.
