Fedora 10 live cd doesn't detect my usb external drive

Does anybody know the name of the update that will give linux the latest data for detecting 1TB Western Digital USB external HDD?

I am attempting to rescue data from a damaged HP pavillion DV9000. Fedora 10 live cd doesn't pick up my external HDD.

Once you have the hard drive plugged in, does /dev/sda1 or /dev/sdb1 appear? Type "ls /dev/sd*" to see. If not, try System Rescue CD http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page. If it does, just mount it with "mount /dev/sda1 (for example) /mnt/choose-a-folder/". I wouldn't think there would be any limitations with hard drive sizes.
