Fedora 10 appearance looks magnified?

I'm not sure if this is Fedora, Gnome or my monitor. I have a 17-inch CRT monitor on a machine that was running FC3. Yesterday, I upgraded to Fedora 10, and for lack of a better description, everything looks HUGE. I adjusted all the fonts, but that didn't help -- the actual windows themselves, the buttons, icons, etc. are all just gigantic, as if I had some magnification screen for sight impairment. It also looks a bit 'stretched', like my screen is too tall, even though I have the resolution set to 1280x1024, which is what it came up with by default.

Is this something that can be fixed? Is it my monitor? I don't have any other monitors, so I can't test it. It's beginning to give me a bit of a headache because I feel like I have to sit 5 feet away from the screen.

Try changing the screen resolution to something like 1024x768, and see if that helps.
