fdisk, fstab, and virtualbox

Here is how it "works". I have a 12 gb hdd that I would like to hook up in a way that enables me to use it via virtualbox. I have only had hassles trying to transfer data, and I need to be able to boot into Debian, and run Windows when I need it for a few programs I have that don't work in Debian.

Now, fdisk reads the drive, its located at /dev/hdb1, but when trying to mount it, it says it is not in the fstab file. How do I get this to work?

Shared folder(s) - I think you need the "Guest Additions". I found it, so it must be documented in the user manual.

Would you care to be more explicit in your instructions?
