fc9 booting Bringing up interface eth0: RTNETLINK answers: File exists

in pc having fedora core 9,when it boots,Network is always disconnected.
when i do service network restart,it gives message
Bringing up interface eth0: RTNETLINK answers: File exists Error adding address ( ip )for etho.
i have specified gateway in /etc/sysconfig/network.also specified ip address in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.
