If I remember correctly you have to make a conscience decision to install a WM/DE when installing Fedora otherwise it's just CLI. Both KDE and GNOME have terminals that give you command line capability. Alternately, when logging in there's probably a menu option to login in console mode. If you prefer to startx to get into your GUI environment, you could edit /etc/inittab and change the default run level to 3.

I haven't touched Fedora for a while. Doesn't that come with Gnome as the default desktop? Then you can just right-click on some unused portion of your desktop (not on any icons) and from the popup menu choose "Open Terminal". Or if you want to use the menu structure you might try Applications->SystemTools->Terminal or Console or something like that. The Fedora setup of the menus might be different than I'm remembering. |
i bring you to command line right now, in 1 second
type : ctrl-alt-F1 (or F2,.. F6) Back to the gnome with type : ctrl-alt-F1 (F7) |
