FC4 xorg issue - how to force default refresh rate
Hi All,
Running FC4 using a GF3 & Hitachi SuperScan Pro 20 (CM2011MU). I recently transferred this monitor from a XP box (no slams please) to my FC4 box. Thing is, I can only get my desired resolution (1280x1024) to sync at 60Hz. I've modified the xorg.conf file to reflect the proper parameters for the monitor, per manufacturer specs. I cannot find any settings to allow me to force the refresh rate to 75Hz and get rid of my headache. . .any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance! |
the title of your post and the actual question are somewhat confusing... what's not working as user exactly? The refresh rate?
Anyways... refresh rate is controlled by the vertical and horizontal sync of the screen... try to set values "HorizSync" and "VertRefresh" in your /etc/xorg.conf a bit higher, maybe the one gave by your specs are too low? If you go too high, the screen will just turn off, it shouldn't be dangerous to guess around. |
resolved
Yes, it was a question of why GNOME was not giving me the option of the refresh rate I wanted for the resolution of 1280x1024. I had already modified both the vertical and horizontal refresh rate ranges in xorg.conf. Turns out the resolution was simply adding a 1600x1200 resoluion mode under the 24-bit "modes" line. Once I did that, the option for 1280x1024x75Hz suddenly appeared as an option. Go Figure. . .
Thanks for the help! |
