FC4 VMware 5 network death

I have just completed a fresh install of FC4, followed by VMware 5, and to my surprised I got the following message during configuration of vmware " "

Configuring a bridged network for vmnet0.

The following bridged networks have been defined:

. vmnet0 is bridged to eth0

but the final lines on the output of the configuration are:

Starting VMware services:
Virtual machine monitor [ OK ]
Virtual ethernet [ OK ]
Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet0 [FAILED]

once i get the prompt back, if you try ifconfig the PC never responds, the same is true with any calls to the network interface, or even if you try to reconfigure vmware using

any suggestions???

Well, one suggestion would be to apply the latest patch (vmware-any-any-update93, at the moment) to vmware.

I've been messing around on and on with the same problem.
It turns out that it was solved by applying the latest patch AND `modprobe tun`.
