fc4 no. 8 on most downloads in past 30 days????
 

Going to http://iso.linuxquestions.org and looking at the "15 Most Downloaded over last 30 Days", Fedora Core 4 is number 8!
I was just wondering if there is something that I am missing out on?
I just installed Fedora 7. I have used Fedora Core (every version) since their 2nd release and was just curious as to how it has been downloaded so much in the last 30 days (more than Fedora Core 6). And Fedora Core 3 is also listed.

Some times there seems to be a rash of one distro.
Prob one guy and his/her mates/work colleagues.
I seem to notice that a lot of (newbie) posters from the Indian sub-continent seem to be on RH9, which was discontinued yrs ago.
Maybe some retailer had a load left over and gave them away.
Magazines should(?) be giving recent versions away on their covers, otoh, if it's free ...
Maybe some colleges are still using old distros for teaching. FC4 is good enough to learn Linux on.

RH9 is no. 5 on that list!!

How can people be so keen to use an out-of-date distro which doesn't even support SATA out of the box? :scratch:

Well, RedHat is RedHat to most people and RH9 is free, unlike RHEL. Of course, if they knew that CentOS or Fedora are RedHat as well, it would be a different story. But apparently they don't.

Yeah, RH9 is obviously RedHat from the name, but Fedora is often (usually ?) not preceded by 'Redhat' ... and Centos actually requires a short explanation that it's a 'copy' of RH Enterprise.
All we can do is try to educate people who ask us or turn up here with old distros.
