I've been a DOS/Windows user for over a decade and have just recently decided to try Linux. Fedora Core 3 seems well suited to a brand spankin' new Linux user and so I've downloaded the four ISOs. My question now is this:

I'm using a Intel-based laptop with WinXP currently installed. What steps do I need to take to do a complete, single-boot, Linux install. I want to wipe every last trace of WinXP from my drive. Will the install program provided allow me to do this? Does partitioning the drive using fdisk do this automatically?

To install Fedora Core 3 make sure that your boot sequence is correct so that you are able to boot off of your CD-ROM before your hard disk. Once the installation has fired up it is a very simple step-by-step installation. Fedora gives you the option to let it do all the partitioning for you, so all you have to do is sit back and watch it install.

If your Windows Partition is a NTFS File System, you better use PartitionMagic. Or maybe you will have problems on booting windows (I had, when I made my partitions using the installatator of Mandrake)
