fbsetbg error - X Error: BadWindow

This problem appeared on my gentoo/fluxbox system after doing an "emerge --update world"

Everytime I set the background using the fbsetbg command I get a popup error message saying

Code:
fbsetbg: Something went wrong while setting the wallpaper.
Run 'xv -max -smooth -root -quit /share/StockPics/Space/Russian-Explosion-FromSpace.jpg' from an xterm to find out what.
The background still changes, but the popup message is a real nuisance.

Anyways, running the specified xv command in a terminal gives me this error

Code:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
  Major Opcode: 4
And again, it still sets the background.

This is only a minor nuisance, but since fbsetbg is run on every login, it's really starting to drive me batty.

Any ideas?

Could you direct the error output to /dev/null?
fbsetbg .... 2>/dev/null

That wouldn't help.
It's an actual popup box with an OK button that I have to click on ...
