fbpanel problems

So I've been using fbpanel for a while now (4.1), and decided to upgrade to 4.3 for some strange reason. Now here's the nice part: after the upgrade I can't get it to start again. after the ./configure, make, make install I try to start it but get this messege: "fbpanel: symbol lookup error: /usr/share/fbpanel/plugins/separator.so: undefined symbol: get_line"

No big deal I thought and went back to 4.1, but then I get the same error messege from that one as well. Does anyone have any ideas what can be wrong?
