Fax Modem installation

Hello guys, this is my first day using linux xubuntu.

I need to install usb 2.0 fax modem (external 56K V.92/V.90), but I can not manage to get it done.
The thing is, I downloaded the newest driver (dgcmodem_1.13) and when I double click on the .deb file, the ubuntu software center poped up and I pressed Install button.
But, the installation takes forever, it has been installing it for 1 hour (it displays the message "applying changes") and I had to restart the computer.
Later on, software center says that dgcmodem is installed, but efax-gtk does not work

When I try to install it through that weird terminal, and when I enter "dgcconfig" in terminal there are some permission issues and installation can not be finished.

Can someone assist me on this?
Thank you.

I somehow managed to get to this part:

When I enter dgcconfig in terminal, when the installation should finish I get this error:

ERROR: Module build failed!
Please examine the log file "/tmp/dgcconfig-buildlog.txt" to determine why.
root@asaosig-desktop:/home/asa-osig/dgcmodem-1.13#

and here is the text of that build log file:
