FAT to ext2

Greetz All,

OK, so I was finally able to get the hardware needed to trash Windows98SE on my personal file-server at home and install Slack 9.0.

One problem, the drive I was using for all my appz and misc stuff (about 4 gig) and my 10 gig MP3 drive are still FAT32. I want to be able to share them with NFS but NFS has a real problem with FAT. Is there any way to change the partition info without destroying the data on the drives?

I tried to just get another drive to copy everything to, but I don't have a spare 40 gig drive and can't shell out the 90 bucks for a 60 gig drive ( the lowest price in my town and the smallest drive apparently, blech)

If anyone knows of any way other than installing Win98 on an old box and using Partition Magic, PLEASE let me know. I really don't want to go through all of that, I thought I finally got rid of windows for good. Blech.

Thanks for any info...

You can't change the filesystem on the partitions without destroying any data on them... You will be reformatting the partitions. It can be likened to erasing the lines off a piece of paper and drawing new lines. The data on the page would be erased at the same time.

blech...

well thanks for the info,

Do you know of an easy way to backup data onto CDs like try to use a program that will say 'backup this entire drive' then it will figure out how many cds it will need and prompt to change them when needed?

I know I can do this by, but Im lazy ;)
