Fans on my laptop
 

I have a strange problem with my fan on my laptop. If I set CPU governor to "Performance", the fan immediately starts blowing at maximum until I have not touched the computer in approx. 2 minutes.

As soon as the mouse moved, start it again. I know that the fan begins to blow if the graphics card comes to 70 degrees, from the time I had Ubuntu. But in Debian starts the fan starts at 60.

Fan stops if the CPU governor is set to "Ondemand".

What can the reason is because, and I can set the fan to blow at a maximum when the graphics card comes up 65-70 degrees?

I run with Debian 5.0, and kernel 2.6.26-1-686.

It is not strange when your fans come on when you set the CPU governor to "performance". It results in that your CPU runs at highest clock speed when there is the slightest hint that processing capacity is needed. If you don't like that keep the setting to "OnDemand".

In /proc/acpi/thermal_zone there should be files with trip points which determine when the fan starts. Can't check taht myself now, because I am not on the laptop. You can experiment with that, but use at your own risk.

No matter. Switched back to Ubuntu because I think that it is better.
