fan software?

i wasn't sure whether to put this in the software or hardware section. but i am running fedora 10 in the KDE environment. Ive set my cpu to dynamic, but sometimes my fan still runs at high rpm even though my computer is cool. I was wondering if there is any software that can control the fan, or any way that I can configure my comp to control how fast the fan turns.

thanks
