Hi,
I'm trying to install IE6 on my Debian machine. I installed the wine and cabextract packages, retrieved the ies4linux and run it. It starts well, downloading everything needed from microsoft.com, but then the process breaks, with the following output:
I can't really help with that problem other than to ask if it's absolutely essential that you use IE6 for some reason. Remember that Firefox has an extension called User Agent Switch that allows it to pretend that it's IE (among other browsers). Would that meet your needs?
cheers,
jdk

Well, I need to enter some sites that won't do with plain fire fox. Could you tell me how to extend it, so I can see whether it allows me to enter those sites?
Thanks,

Sure no problem. Just install the User Agent Switcher extension and then it will give you a choice of what browser to masquerade as and for what sites. I've never seen it fail yet.
Cheers,
jdk
The Agent User addon for iceweasel did part of the job.
I found out that I failed to complete the ies4linux script because I run it from a CSH rather than from a BASH.
Thanks for all the replyers.
