Extracting audio from mpeg4 video

Hi. I have tried to extract the audio from an mpeg4 file and save it as a WAV file. I have used mencoder with -ovc frameno, but that gives me an AVI, I have tried tcextract with no success.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Read "man mplayer". I'm sure this is explained in it.

I've done this super easily before with avidemux. mplayer would probably be a much lighter solution but if your package manager has avidemux then install-do task-uninstall shouldn't be too hard
