extra keyboard keys stopped working

Hey People,

I use Lineakd to use the extra keys on my multimedia keyboard. I used to run Mandrake 10.0 and some of the keys worked and some didn't

I have since changed over to gentoo linux. When I was running on kernel 2.4 all of the keys worked fine. I've updated to kernel 2.6 and now the same keys have stopped working.

Mandrake uses the 2.6 kernel so I think there's either something I'm missing or an incompatibility. I didn't find anything about this on their website.

Has anybody else come across this before, or know a way to fix it?

Thanks

xbindkeys is a good program to assign keys to functions.
You'll need xev too to define which keys are pressed.

For keys like volume up and volume down what do you put in for a command? With lineakd I typed in "EAK_VOLUP/EAK_VOLDOWN" to do that but it doesn't seem to be an actual terminal command. Can you do the same thing with your program?

Dunno, but perhaps it's possible to interact with alsa or artsd... There should be answers on this forum.
