External DVD Writer Permissions

Good Day

I have just purchased a new external DVD Writer and when trying to write to the device as a regular user, I get a read only error from KB3.

I have standard SuSE 9.1 Pro with latest updates, on a Toshiba A10 (USB2.0). The DVD is a Lite-On 16x dual-layer which is in a regular no-name external IDE housing.

I am sure the hardware is okay, well at least, it reads just fine and there are no Windows or Mac machines for miles to test it on;-)

It would seem to be a permissions problem as the device works fine as root. I have an internal DVD writer which works well as any user, but cannot locate the common thread here.

Also, I am using hotplug that is standard with SuSE, so there are no settings in FSTAB for me to see for this device, only MTAB if that helps.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards

Gund
