External CD-R Drive Connected to Printer Port
I have an old Toshiba 486 laptop and a EXP Computer, Inc. external CD-R drive that connects to the printer port. Windows pooh pooh on 486s, but Linux has always done well on my desktop 486s. Is there a way to use the CD-R via the printer port to install via CD?

I believe you will have to recompile the kernel to include option for foriegn devices on parallel port, I don't know if 2.2.x kernels are equiped with it, but the latest 2.4.17 definately has this option.

Thanks
Thanks for pointing me in the direction, I'm not sure I want to get that involved, but I'll think about it
