EXT2:::Please help needed desparately

Hi this is swanand,
I am doing a project in filesystems. In the project I need to traverse through all the files in the filesystem to find a particular file and then create a softlink to that file. I am using a ext2 filesystem. Can anyone please help me to understand how to traverse through files in a filesystem ?
Thank you.
