Export data from Evolution to Openoffice
 

Hi there,

I've testet several "Outlook replacement" software - Mozilla with Calendar, KOrganizer and Evolution.
Evolution seems to be the best for my needs, but I can't find any way to export tasks and calendar information and such from Evolution. I want to create a summary in Openoffice calc about a day of the calendar. I can't simply copy&paste, there's no export from Evolution at all and Openoffice seems to only import Evolution Adress books :-(
Is there something I can do about this or is this just bad luck for me?
On the other hand, if you can point me to a "PIM software" running on linux as "Outlook replacement" that can at be configured to display the time scale of a day 5-minutes-way like Evolution (and not 15 minutes as in KOrganizer) or can display this as in Mozilla Calendar in a free scale, but with a possibility to chose how "large" one hour has to be like in KOrganizer, and allows an easy export to a format that can be read with OpenOffice Calc?

Solution linux Evolution Calendar to OpenOffice Calc
 

This is just the start as I am sure someone can figure out the command line way when you do please post it.

I was searching for a solution so I am guessing it is still relevant as this discussion was one of the top hits. So basically get Evolution to produce a view of calendar information in a table format so the information can be manipulated in a spreadsheet such as Calc. I did this with Evolution 2.32.2, do not know if older versions can do it or if newer versions need it.

Step 1 create a custom view in Evolution. When in Calendar Select:

View -> Current View -> Define Views -> New

Give it a name and select table -> OK -> OK -> Close

This will produce a table view of your calendar.

Step 2 Select the data you want. While in the month you want Select:

View -> Current View -> name of table view used in Step 1

From here you modify the column headings by right clicking on them and selecting either:

Remove this Column or Add a Column

I suggest Start Date, End Date, Summary, Description.

Step 3 Print to PDF

At this stage print the data to pdf. The more tidy the pdf prints the easier the data will copy, try adjusting the column widths in Step 2 and consider using landscape view or larger "paper size" for the print setting

Step 4 Copy the data from the pdf

Open the pdf highlight all the data and CTRL-C to copy it.

Step 5 Paste into Calc

Open Calc and select a cell the do CTRL-V to paste the data.

At this point a dialogue will pop up asking how you want the data interpreted. I used fixed width and put markers to divide the data in to date/time/date/time/summary columns

Now I that the data is in Calc I can manipulate however I want and most importantly control the print out for easy reading of all those micro appointments.
