Experts Tell me what i did is right???
 

Hi

I am new to Linux and installed RH9 yesterday on My Notebook.

I created three partitions in notebook one NTFS for Winxp, Two Vfat so that i can access in both ways,Third ext3 and installed RH9 on ext3 at then end of installation it asked me to create boot disket i created it. My Q's

1)After finsihing installtion i restated the computer what i see is redhat screen with two option select which OS i want to go in
Dos or RH9 is this normal screen every one gets who have two OS in on system.if yes then why it ask to create the boot disk at the end of installtion.

2)I forgot to create the swap space but when i boot i can see the option saying Swap Space created OK.i heard we need to create a swap partition i havent created do i need to or OS assigin the space automatically.

3)how to check is everything right with installation,I get everything is OK at boot for all the loaders/options is that means installtion is healthy.

Yes, this is normal. The boot disk is useful when your bootloader is broken.

Swap space is not absolutely necessary to run as long as you have enough memory. Anyway it sound like Red Hat created a swap file for you. A swap file is not nearly as efficient as a swap partition. If you ever have to reinstall or need something to do then create a swap partition.

The way that you check an installation is to set up and use all of the major functions such as Internet, editor, compilers or whatever. If some component does not work you are probably far enough along that you can fix the problem without doing a complete reinstall.

It seems according to your suggestions every thing is fine with installation ya i have checked all the major functions which you mentioned are working fine have to some more R&D to learn more about Linux.
