exist any text-based e-mail client *all-in-one* ?
 

hi there..
since some time ago I'm looking for a text-based e-mail client..
during my search I found elm, pine, mutt and any others of the like, but I realize such apps deppends on e-mail servers and maybe another app installed in the box.
the fact is I'm not interested in deal with such other apps, just wanna a "stand-alone" e-mail client like evolution, kmail, and many others... but text-based.
Does enybody know if exist any app like the one I'm looking for?

this is UNIX, one of the basic logical points fort software design is not to do anything an existing utility already does perectly well. every app will require others... in this case inparticular, mutt just requires a generic localhost smtp connection.. nothing clever there, but then pine doesn't need anythign else at all, other than things like ui toolkits, things that every gui client will require... just a different toolkit compared to X based ones.

don't know if I get your idea: you mean pine doesn't need a previously configured local mail server? (just put my mail server tipe --smtp & pop, account name and password within pine?)
gonna get a closer look on pine..
..and about that logical design of the unix software.. isn't kde part of that logic? coz I don't deal with any local mail sever during kmail's configuration...

i've not used pine for a little while, but it can open remote smtp connections fine i think.

this is only what kmail does too... most complex apps don't require local smtp connections, but ultimately having a simple local smtp server is a great thing. ou can then send mail from any app than can do it without providng extra details and such... you just say "send this mail now!" not from any client or anything. it opens up a world of possibilites to be honest, just many of them mightn't matter to you...
