Exim4 local mail

My OS : Debian Etch, exim4 with no configuraton done.

My goal in the end, setting up entire mailserver with antispam and antivirus.

I first wanted to get my local mail working by changing the config files manually,
to learn and understand the working of exim and its configuration in debian.

I've got it more or less working, but when i try to sent mail in mutt to another local user i have use the format "user@localhost" instead of just using the "user"

When using "user" as recipient, the maild gets freezed saying :

Code:
2007-10-02 09:44:35 1IccQl-0002Hj-E9 ** guust@ R=nonlocal: Mailing to remote domains not supported
2007-10-02 09:44:35 1IccQl-0002Hl-Ew Error while reading message with no usable sender address (R=1IccQl-0002Hj-E9): at least one malformed recipient address: giant@ - domain missing or malformed
2007-10-02 09:44:35 1IccQl-0002Hj-E9 Process failed (1) when writing error message to giant@ (frozen)
As opposite of when i use "user@localhost" as recipient the in the log all is fine and the mail gets delivered.

Any clues ?
