Executing key sequence in linux

actually i wanted to how to make a shell script press keys in a given key sequence.

say some exam results are out for 500 people and the ranking is not given. so i wanna execute a script to enter their id get the result save it come back enter next id.
For this i feel the easiest solution is executing a variable key sequence.

Regards,
