Unhappy execute perl file at startup linux


hello mind,
i want to add perl file to work alone after reboot machine.
i dont have cron jobs permissions. because i dont have root permission.
can i add lines for the perl itself to do this ?
some one told me that i can do this from /var/run/screen
but i dont know about that .
need help urgent ...

Unless tied to startup scripts applications and binaries don't run themselves.

That's a chicken and egg thing because you would still have to start screen automagically first ;-p

Discuss permissions to run your personal crontab or adding something to /etc/rc.d/rc.local with the ones in charge?

/etc/rc.d/rc.local is for root permission ,
what else you recommended ?
i need another way

for the system to do it automatically, i would put it in /etc/rc.local.
for the user to do it once logged in you can put it in ~/.bash_profile.
some newer distros support a @reboot directive in the users crontab.

Note the last suggestion will only work for the user if s/he logs in. So still the chicken and egg thing.
Why don't you talk to the admin responsible for this machine? Saves you a lot of trouble.
