.EXE decompilers


hi,

i am looking for something that will decompile exe files to there source code and before you say i don't want wine to run them as i have been told that in other forums i would like something that shows me the code.

The state of most FLOSS decompilers is alpha or pre-alpha, unless you want a proprietary one:

What about the (somewhat obvious) objdump (from binutils)? It will disassemble executables (ELF, PE, COFF, and others) into assembly code. It may not be exactly what you want, but it is good for a quick look at how an executable works. If you want a debugger which allows disassembly and stepping, try gdb.

Yeah, it's true that you'd probably be better off using a disassembler, but then you have to know something about assembly language to do anything useful with the data.
