Exceed on Demand client doesn't clear buffer

Running EOD client session in Red Hat enterprise 4. The client is connected to another Red Hat enterprise 4 system.

If text is selected in a terminal running in the connected system I am no longer able to make selections in the local system. It is impossible to highlight anything locally.

Is there a command to forcefully clear the selection buffer?
