Evolutions E-mail problems, not saving my settings
I am using Red Hat 8.0 and Ximian evolution 1.0.8, I am having a really strange problem. Every time I start my e-mail program it prompts me to enter my account details, pop server, smtp server and so on. Once I have done that it will send a recive messages and show me the messages I have picked up from previous sessions. How do I tell Evolution to save my settings, this is driving me nuts.
Thanks
David

well off-hand I'd say check the permissions in your .evolution directory in your home directory. It could be a permissions problem on the settings file or something.

Hints
Ok, I look in my home dir and I don't see an evolution folder in fact I don't see any files or directories in my /home/david folder. I am a bit of a linux newbie could it be because I log on as root and then from a Shell use the su to switch to my user account "David"

Solution found
Thanks for the tips, because I kept logging on to my machine as root (yes I know that's not a good idea) when I opened evolution it wouldn't save the settings. As soon as I logged into my machine as David and opened my e-mail I saw that an evolution folder was created under the home directory.
Thanks goes to tcaptain

Just a sidebar, Evolution is up to 1.4 now ... you might look into upgrading.
