"evolution" under KDE: stopped changing some settings, allows changing others

For quite a long time I'm using "evolution" e-mail client under KDE (currently -

Few days ago I wanted to set "View -> All message headers" (I used to set/clear it many times
in the past) and I discovered that the "evolution" ignored me clicking on that checkbox -
this setting stubbornly remains "OFF". Strangely, on the same "View" menu,
the setting "Group by threads" responds OK to me clicking on it. I also tested
other settings on the "View" menu and except "Group by threads" no other setting
responds to my click.

I also noticed that when I attempted "Edit -> Preferences -> composer preferences -> General"
none of the "General" settings could be changed. In "Signatures" editing signature seems to work,
in "Spell ckecking" page I can't turn OFF "Check spelling while I type" but I can
turn ON/OFF every language in the list to use for spell checking.

On "Confirmations" page - all settings are "ON" and I can't turn any of them "OFF".

On "Send Account" page I can turn ON/OFF the setting "Folder override has precedence over
Recipient override".

On "Mail accounts" I seem to be able to change ON/OFF the 3 settings of Account names for maildir,
pop and vfolder.

In "Contacts" page I seem to be able to change settings.

On "Mail preferences -> General" I can't change anything.

On "Calendar and tasks -> General" I can't change anything.

In addition to that, all "evolution" windows are opened very small (half
the screen width/height) and despite me dragging them to the size I want,
the next time I opene them - they forgot the size I draggeg them to.

My "evolution" version and my OS version:

<localhost.localdomain>.../user>rpm -qa | grep evolution
<localhost.localdomain>.../user>uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 4.15.6-200.spi_gpio.fc26.x86_64 #1 SMP Sat Mar 3 02:13:51 IST 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Has anyone encountered such a strange behavior of "refusing to change some settings
while allowing to change other settings"?
