neenee,
Do you want to move just your Inbox or are you trying to move the entire set of application files?

My hunch is that is rather complex and must be performed during the install process; however, I have submitted a question at Ximian regarding moving a currently installed instance of Evolution from the /home/user/evolution to a .evolution directory. I'll let you know what they have to say.
Good Luck

neenee,
I just got this from support at Ximian (I hope this helps. Eric):

Not currently. There's been an open bug on this for quite some time.
One user attached a patch, so it might not be too hard to build a custom
version, if you want this badly enough.

I also just got this from the Evolution User's listserv (this might help too):

Here is what I would do:

1 - close Evolution and run killev from the command-line
2 - make a backup of your ~/evolution directory
3 - move your ~/evolution directory to ~/.evolution
4 - make a symbolic link : 'ln -s ~/.evolution ~/evolution'

I haven't tried it myself but from previous discussions it seems the
best way of doing it. You still see ~/evolution as a symlink to
.evolution though. You can't completely remove the ~/evolution symlink
since it is hard-coded in the source code.
