Hello,
Please help me decide whether to adopt Evolution as my primary PIM application (Fedora + GNOME system). I appreciate Evolution's simplicity, elegance and standards-compliance, however, the GUI led me to believe that it is "natural" in Evo to create separate calendars for separate kinds of events/appointments. I am aware of the existence of categories in Evo, however I rarely make any use of them (as opposed to what I had been used to in Outlook), since displaying different kinds of appointments in different colors is essential to me - this was discussed at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=308815. As the issue can seemingly be easily bypassed by simply using multiple calendars with optional overlay mode, I have created 3 calendars (until now) - called something like Home, Work and Hobby. This looks nice to me, both from conceptual and aesthetic point of view; however some issues do arise:
1. Would it somehow be possible to publish the free/busy info combined from all of the calendars? I mean, if I am busy, it means that I am busy no matter whether it's work-related or not.
2. The 3 calendars implied I would create 3 task lists as well. What's more, I created 6 of them - 2 for each calendar: one for long-term tasks and another for short-term ones. While I _like_ that this is possible in Evo, I _feel_ it is not right from both conceptual and ergonomic point of view (too many to-do lists to care about). Since I solely expressed my feelings on the matter, would you advise me on whether you think such method is rational or not?
3. I am almost answering this myself, but I don't think it would be possible to sync multiple calendars with a mobile phone (not tried yet though).
4. I know this is highly subjective, but is there anything significantly wrong with having multiple calendars for personal use (other than the concerns I expressed above)?
Sorry for going into too much detail, but I think a good PIM system should be essential for almost every computer user. And whenever I am criticizing Evolution, it is in hope that Evo could be made better, or at least could be used in more productive or creative ways. Any thoughts/comments are highly appreciated.

P.S. Please don't tell me about Kontact, I prefer Gnome.
