evolution mail downloads old mail messages

Hi all,

I have been using Evolution as my mail client for 1 year now and a strange thing happened today. After setting an appointment in my calendar (but cancelling it before I saved it) and sending two messages I clicked send and receive. My messages were sent (from my primary mail account) and my secondary email account is polled (no new messages).

Following this my primary account is polled and evolution proceeds to start downloading all my mail messages dating back to March this year, thats 477 messages.

This is not ideal.

I have evolution set up to leave my messages on my server (for my autobiography!?!). I would appreciate any ideas for this arbitary and random problem.

This is a first time problem

Evolution 2.6.3
Gnome 2.14.3
Kernel 2.6.17-2-k7
