Evolution mail client and Exchange 2k

I have evolution on Slackware and am attempting to connect to an exchange 2000 mail server and it will not connect, says port 143 not open. I checked the evolution web site and it says i need Ximian Connector, which they want me to purchase. Anyone know of another mail client that will work with exchange 2k? Or know how to get evolution to work? Thanks

Just out of curiosity I was loking around to see if I could find anything...I didn't My advice would be to convert your exchange server to something a little less proprietary (which I know is probably not an option at this point)
Take care!
