Evolution backup restore problem

Hi there,

I am running Debian and testing Evolution, I have problem backup and restore the settings. When I do backup a file with date and "tar.xy" extension created, when I restore the file into other installation it said invalid file format. I extract the file into a folder, I see there are 2 folders and a "dir" file created, but still I couldn't restore it. I search the net and find many people having the same problem, and I don't see any ".evolution" hidden file on the system to use, looks like the backup restore thing is broken or not straight forward, any comment ?

Are you using exactly the same version of Evolution in both installations?

Out of interest, what is the .xy extension you mention? I've never seen it before and Google doesn't turn up anything that sounds applicable.
