Evolution annoyances

When using the mail program Evolution there are a few annoyances.
If you click on a mail item to read it it sometimes brings up a separate window with the mail in it, then I have to close it.

Is there a way to turn this off?

The separate window should only open when you double click on the mail. If you click a single time, the mail should appear in a panel at the bottom of the window. If the panel is missing, you can make it appear by pressing Ctrl+m.

Evolution annoyance

Yes you are correct a single click should do that but lately it has been opening the mail in a separate window and I have to keep closing them.
It may have started after an upgrade but I'm not sure. I am thinking of changing to Thunderbird.

Ok. If this is the only application where this happens, I'm afraid I do not know how to help you. If there are other situations where clicking a single time produces the result expected from a double click, there might be some problem with your mouse button.

As for switching to Thunderbird, it is in my opinion also an excellent email client. It may be worth giving it a try to see if it suits you. You can always switch back if in the end you prefer Evolution.

Hi...

Just as a thought, if you have another mouse on hand, it might be worth the time to verify if this is a issue with evolution or a mouse (hardware) issue. If it's an issue with evolution, you can a file a bug report, if needed.

Regards...

Once you change to a decent client, you would never change back to Evolution. Maybe it's improved since I ditched it, but I doubt it is any more reliable than in the past.
