Evolution and SMTP

FC4 Evolution 2.2.3

I have been running Evolution for years with RH then FC. This has worked fine until recently. About 2/3 weeks back I started getting:

MAIL FROM command failed: Requested action not taken: mailbox name not allowed

The error seemed intermittant, in as much as after multiple attempts at Sending/Receiving, the message(s) would go. That was until yesterday! Now the error appears persistantly and the messages do not go.

Any ideas as to how I can identify where the problem resides (I did get in touch with Yahoo when this first started, but their reply was more about sending mail than the error)?

Is there a way of seeing what messages are being sent and the replies being received?

PS I am connecting to retrieve mail from two or three accounts. All the accounts are 'valid' and can be accessed manually without a problem. I'm not sure which 'smtp' account is being used to send the mail, but I have assumed it is from the 'default' account.

... just to complete case someone else has a similar problem.

It seems that Yahoo have tightened up their email checks - presumably to stop spammers.

The problem was that I use yahoo to forward mail from my business - so I redirect mail from steve@mybusiness to - this works fine. I also then had my default Evolution account set up with the EMail address of steve@mybusiness using the yahoo smtp with a login of stevemybusiness. That had been working for years. Now it seems that Yahoo objects to having the EMail account as steve@mybusiness - and needs it to reflect the account (so had to be changed to

A bit garbled, but may be a pointer if you get something similar...
