Evolution Alarms

Hi all.

This is a long shot, but who knows...

I keep identical ~/.evolution directories on my desktop and laptop machines (synchronising with rsync). The only problem is, if I'm syncing for the first time on a new machine (or restoring my $HOME directory after a distro upgrade, or silly mistake), the first time Evolution is run all the reminders for all the entries (going back several years) in the calendars pop up. This has caused my old Thinkpad to sieze up on more than one occasion, and it takes several minutes to clear them all once they've stopped appearing.

I imagine there's a file or two in /tmp which keeps track of which alarms have gone off, but I can't find it. Does anyone know how to stop this very irritating behaviour? The upgrade to Fedora Core 4 is in the not-too-distant future, and I fear what will happen the first time I run Evolution with several hundred appointments and their reminders in the calendars.

Cheers.

Dave
