Evolution 2.1.1 won't launch except via console

Evolution 2.01 runs fine on my Slackware (current, kernel 2.6.9) system. I installed the tgz package from www.linuxpackages.net.

For fun, I compiled and installed Evolution 2.1.1, which I assume is still considered unstable. I had to compile and install some additional packages, but I've got it working. I alos had to add this environmental variable to make Evo 2.1.1 start on my system:

BONOBO_ACTIVATION_PATH=/usr/local/lib/bonobo/servers .

There is something strange, though: After a reboot, I first have to start Evo 2.1,1 from a console. Once it's been launched this way, I can exit and relaunch the program just fine from either of two WindowMaker launcher applets that I use (wmButton and minidock). Both launch Evo 2.1.1 using a the exact same command that I use when I launch Evo from a console.

However, if I don't first launch Evo 2.1.1 from a console, it will not start from either of the WindowMaker launcher applets.

My console is rxvt, and I use the -ls option so that it opens as a logon console. I load the BONOVO_ACTIVATION_PATH environment variable automatically using ~/bash_profile.

I get this error message when I try to launch Evo 2.1.1 from a WindowMaker launcher applet: "Evolution can not (sic) start. Your system configuration does not match your Evolution configuration. Check help for details" (Unfortunately, clicking help doesn't do anything, at least that I can see. Certainly it doesn't open a browser window.)

This is only mildly annoying, but it's annoying nevertheless, since I feel sure there's a fix. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.
