Evolution 1.4.6 crashes when receiving mails

Hello,

I have just moved from RedHat 9 to Fedora Core 2. Fedora 2 comes with Evolution 1.4.6, and I intend to use Evolution as my email client as well as my shedule manager and "To Do" manager so that I can use Evolution along with my Palm. I have set up my email accounts in Evolution, but when I try to receive emails by clicking the "Receive" button, Evolution crashes with very unuseful error message saying '"evolution" suddenly crashed. Report this issue to the developer.' When I sync my Palm with Evolution, Evolution also crashes in the middle of the synching process.

So far, all I did was installing Fedora Core 2, upgraded kernel to 2.6.9-1.6_FC2, set up my email accounts with Evolution, configured JPilot, and configured synch setting in Evolution, then synched with my Pilot. Crash occurs during the synch process, as well as email receiving process. I have been browsing this forum hoping to find some answers, but so far no luck. Could some one kindly help me? Thank you in advance.

pilot-xfer?

Can you use pilot-xfer in command-line mode to do a "list" of files on your Palm? I'm running FC3 and I can't get it to finish. It dies mid-way. Before I ran FC3 I was running FC2 and had the same problem.

So if pilot-xfer, which most graphical apps use to do the work of syncing up Palm handhelds, dies mid-sync, it could be crashing your application.

Here's something to help if you're running FC3 at some point.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I can list files on my Palm using the pilot-xfer command without problem. The command execution won't die in the middle. I am not sure whether this problem is caused by the Palm syncing. Yesterday, when I chose "Receive mail" command from the Evolution's menu, I successfully received emails. However, today, receiving emails is not working again. Very strange...

I ended up reinstalling Fedora Core 2 from scratch. After Fedora Core 2 installation, I don't have the Evolution crash problem. The problem occurs when Fedora Core 2 is upgraded with glibc update packages. So, Evolution 1.4.6 does not seem to be compatible with Fedora Core 2 upgrade.
