51dunk:

I don't know if I understand your problem right.
You think you can't log on as user because beryl autostarting twice gives you a whitescreen ? If so, why don't you just remove the autostart items out of the autostart folder as root ? Its /home/user/.kde/Autostart for kde and /home/user/.config/autostart for gnome I think (if you meant the session manager of gnome with "session list", you didn't tell what youre using).

I just wanted to say, that I had the white screen problem as well after installing beryl (completely white screen, did not try to rotate the cube). Unchecking the "sync to vblank" option fixed it for me. I'm using beryl with nvidia gl driver.

However, this whitescreen problem seems to have more than 1 reason, just look in the unofficial nvidia support forum (www.nvnews.net), there are a ton of posts concerning this problem.

thanks almatic.

your response is very useful to me.I was trying to find user configuration files, but i just forgot to view the hidden files in user folder.

I have solved(bypass) the white cube problem.and i encountered another problem : theme doesn't changes when i switch the themes.
I think it might be ""replace" related issue.

thanks again almatic, you helped me a lot, i am new to linux world, so hopefully you can always help me when i can't handle the problems.

and English is not my native language, so it might awful sometimes ,but i am always trying to make it clearly.

Finally,I got all things worked.

But it seems that beryl always crashed occasionally.
Then i must type beryl-xgl again.

ok you know, you must either autostart beryl-manager alone (which will then start beryl windowmanager + the window decorator) or beryl-xgl + a windowdecorator (emerald, aquamarine or whatever you are using).

For me beryl runs pretty stable (almost all plugins activated) but produces black windows from time to time. This can be fixed by switching to the console and then back to X and is caused by trouble from the nvidia driver with the x composite extension (according to nvidia).
