Ethtool Magic Key?

I want to use ethtool to reflash my sick network card. I have an eeprom image, but it says I need a "device specific magic key" to reflash my network card. How do I obtain this?

Vendor has it but may have it on web somewhere.

I doubt a reflash will help though.
