Ethereal installed fine but won't start

I successfully compiled Ethereal (RHEL4), did a make and make install but Ethereal won't start. Running 'ethereal' in a terminal throws a command not found error. Is there a step I'm forgetting? I'm following the directions here:

Ethereal is now called Wire Shark. Check your distribution's application repository to see if it is available through that source. That would certainly be the easiest approach. If it is not available through the Red Hat application repository then you can download Wire Shark from this web site:

http://wireshark.org/
or
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=483259

Installation can take a while since you are compiling from source. You should also read the INSTALL file. It will provide solutions if the ./configure process doesn't work. Basically you have to have GTK+ and libpcap installed before you install Wire Shark.

I just installed Wire Shark on the system that I'm using to write this to be sure that I knew what I was talking about. The installation wasn't too bad. I got a lot of compiler warnings during the ./configure process that indicate sloppy programming but nothing that would prevent the software from working.

I deleted Ethereal and installed Wireshark. I have the same problem. I can type 'wireshark' and i get a bash - command not found error. I think there is a step that I'm not doing, however it isn't on any instructions list. Any ideas?

I noticed that the version of Wire Shark that I installed from source put itself in /usr/local/bin. Log in as root and try the following commands.
Code:
ls /usr/local/bin/wireshark

/usr/local/bin/wireshark
Mind you, if the ls command says "file not found" then the second command won't work.
